More about the Student Activity Council (SAC)
We are the Student Activity Council, the governing body for American University’s four programming boards. We focus on making an inclusive student experience that gives everyone room to be part of the AU community. We believe in fostering inclusivity, ensuring that every student feels welcome and represented. We strive to create meaningful experiences and events that enhance the overall student experience.
Our current Co-Chairs are England Meadows (SPA'27) and Khadija Hussain (KSB ’27).
All our organizations do not discriminate in membership or benefits on the basis of any individual’s personal identity or characteristics, including but not limited to race, color, national origin (or shared ancestry), religion, sex, age, sexual orientation, disability, or veteran status.
The Four Programming Boards
-
Kennedy Political Union (KPU) is the non-partisan central political programming board at AU. As an organization, we bring the most politically relevant and impactful speakers to engage the AU community and focus on important issues across the political spectrum. KPU provides impactful dialogues around current political issues, curating meaningful conversations.
-
The Student Union Board (SUB) is the entertainment bureau on campus that strives to bring artists, actors, and other creatives by curating events that are pursuant to the values of the AU community. While representing the diversity that defines AU, we aim to express the interest of a wide range of students. Our goal is to bring free-spirited events to the well-deserving students.
-
Students for Change (SFC) is an intersectional organization that is responsible for creating and delivering responsive, effective, and educational programming to address a wide range of issues through the lens of gender, and sexuality. SFC programming reflects core values of anti-violence, anti-racism, environmental & climate justice, queer & trans inclusion, and wellness.
-
The Spirit & Traditions Board (STB) aims to put on events that unite a diverse student body and find ways to celebrate the many great students that make AU what it is today. The programming board’s work is done to strengthen the university community. Our events and initiatives strive to celebrate the AU’s traditions and values and build a sense of pride and belonging.
